Direct to Garment Printing

DIRECT TO GARMENT PRINTING

Direct to Garment printing offers full colour realistic printing with a soft hand feel for designs with a wide colour range. Stay Golden Custom was excited to be one of the first shops to introduce direct to garment printing technology to Atlantic Canada in 2018.

In direct to garment printing, printing equipment directly applies ink onto a t-shirt with its duel White/CMYK print heads. DTG uses environmentally friendly, water-based inks, which are absorbed by the fibers of the garment, leaving a very soft, smooth feel to the shirt.

DTG printing is very high resolution, so you’re able to print images in high detail and clients are not limited in the number of colours or shades that can be used.

DTG is also a great option for those who don’t have a large budget to make an up-front investment for a large order of garments as there are lower minimum order quantities. For classic black and white t-shirts, we offer as few as one custom printed shirt per order. Although the more you order, the more of a bulk discount we can include for you!

Our Direct to Garment printing equipment at Stay Golden Custom is equipped to handle highly complex and multicoloured orders, skipping the costly and time consuming process of colour separation and screen preparation that screen printing entails.

Direct to Garment is a good choice for detailed designs and comes highly recommended by our team if you’re looking for a great, long-lasting print.

UNLIMITED COLOURS

Direct to garment printing allows us to print designs with hundreds of colours. This is a major difference in comparison to screenprinting and traditional print methods. Direct to garment is a good process for printing designs with a lot of shades that can be challenging to reproduce through colour separation in screen printing.

LOW ORDER MINIMUMS

Direct to garment printing automates much of the pre-production process and removes some of the setup cost associated with preparing a design for screenprinting.  As long as we are provided with a high resolution JPEG or PNG file (minimum 150 PPI at desired print size), a shirt can be printed as a single one off! COTTON GARMENTS ONLY

Direct to garment printing works best with 100% cotton garments or those with a high percentage cotton construction (ideally at least 75%). This is because the water based ink adheres best to cotton's natural fibres. Some poly/cotton blends can still produce good prints, but we recommend 100% cotton for the best results.
